While imparting professional education, we take utmost care that students and other stake holders feel comfort in the campus. We at SIET practice transparency and justice, so that stake holders do not suffer. The campus observes high moral and ethical practices under the guidance of our honourable founder, Shri. S. A. Punekar. Our Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) efficiently addresses ragging issues, women issues and issues regarding caste based discrimination in the campus, as per guidelines of AICTE and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Govt. of Karnataka. The GRC comprises of three committees: Anti ragging, Anti sexual harassment for women and prevention of Caste based discrimination. Anti ragging Committee, where students can lodge the complaint related to ragging and are resolved as per Anti ragging rules laid by the government. Anti sexual harassment Committee for Women, where female students/staff can lodge complaint and get their grievances resolved as per the Directives of the Supreme Court of India (Vishakha Guidelines), to uphold the dignity of women at work place. Committee for Caste based discrimination (SC/ST/OBC) looks after complaints as per government Act No.33 of 1989.

Objectives:

  1. To uphold the dignity of the Institute by promoting cordial relation between students and staff.
  2. To support the students who have been deprived of the services for which he/she is entitled.
  3. To encourage the students to express their grievances / problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
  4. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the Institution. Any violation of anti-ragging and disciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal.

Functions:

  1. The cases shall be attended promptly on receipt of online grievances from the students and staff.
  2. All received complaints will be analyzed, compiled and forwarded to concerned committees for necessary action.
  3. The cell will report to the higher authority about the cases attended to and the number of pending cases, if any, which require direction and guidance from the higher authorities.

Responsibilities of Grievance Redressal Cell:

  1. Ensuring on the spot solutions by adopting soft measures, interaction and casual warning.
  2. Keep the grievant informed about the processing of his/her grievance.
  3. Grievance Redressal Committee aims to create cordial & friendly atmosphere.
  4. The Grievance cell is also empowered to look into matters of harassment/caste based discrimination.
  5. If anybody is found to be guilty for any kind of nuisance he/she shall be penalized as per norms.
